Egg Freezing Optimization Study (HOLIDAY Study)

Hormonal Optimization: Late vs. Immediate start after Discontinuation of oral contraceptives in Assisted reproductive technologY (HOLIDAY)

Shady Grove Fertility, RMA of New York, and Yale Fertility Center are currently seeking patients to participate in a study to determine if a drug holiday, or 2-month pause in combined hormonal contraceptive (CHC), leads to a higher number of good quality eggs following egg retrieval.

Eligibility

  • Are currently on at least 6 consecutive months of combined hormonal contraceptive (CHC), a common form of birth control.
  • Ovary-bearing individuals 18 to 40 years of age.
  • BMI < 40 kg/m2
  • Non-smoker for at least 3 months prior to study enrollment.

What participation involves:

  • You will be randomized to either pause your hormonal birth control for 2 months or start egg freezing immediately prior to an egg freezing cycle.
  • After this, you will undergo standard IVF care, including ovarian stimulation and egg retrieval.

Cost and benefits:

  • All routine IVF services will be billed to your insurance or paid per usual.
  • Free meds for cycle (Gonal F, Cetrotide and Ovidrel) for all participants!!!
